Identity for the independent bookseller Koenig Books, created for the shops in The Serpentine Gallery and on Charing Cross Road, London. Our brief was to create something with an almost imperceptibly ‘designed’ feel. We developed a utilitarian approach that rationalised the two locations. The typography was used at a single size and had a distinctive European flavour. The colour palette made use of the traditional Koenig red and blue, with the name picked out in the contrasting colour for emphasis. In 2008 we developed the typography and signage for Koenig’s Berlin operation – Buchhandlung Walther König.
